Tolls on Golden Gate Bridge to Increase
The toll for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco is going up again. The $1 increase for cars was approved July 11 by the board that oversees the famous span. It takes effect Sept. 1.
Under the new toll rate, trucks will pay $3 per axle additional, up from $2.50 now. Cars using cash will pay $5 and those using the electronic payment system FasTrak will pay $5. The extra income from the increase will be used to erase the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District’s $91 million deficit.
